A typical corrugation plant manufactures cardboard by means of a fluted sheet, sandwiched between two liners, bonded together with adhesive, which creates a durable, yet lightweight product. Throughout this process, precision temperature control is absolutely vital, in order to ensure product quality and efficient manufacturing process.
Steam is the ideal choice for this application, as it provides a reliable, even supply of heat throughout the manufacturing process, and is used at nearly every stage. Paper must be heated and introduced to an ideal level of moisture, before being carried throughout the plant on steam heated rollers to ensure a proper temperature. Adhesive must be warmed to allow for an ideal bond. The two layers of liners, with a fluted sheet lined with adhesive between them, are pressed together by means of a steam heated press to create a proper adhesion. Following this, a finished product with pass through a heated steam application to quickly cure the finished product. And we haven’t even mentioned the near constant use of steam showers on machinery between product passes, keeping equipment clean.
